Would you like a better birth?

(Pour les mamans francophones, je vais aussi traduire le message suivant et le poster plus tard, donc vous êtes aussi invitées à répondre si vous voulez une doula à prix réduit!)

For women who are expecting in August-November, to deliver at CHUV, l’hopital de Morges, clinics located in Lausanne, Lunaissance, Grannge Rouge, or at home:

My name is Monica, and I am training to become a doula- a professional birth coach who provides physical and emotional support for a laboring mom, as well as facilitating communication between mom and dad and medical personnel (I am English-French bilingual).

I have completed my studies, and now need to assist at two births to receive certification. Because of my student status, any expecting mom who contacts me through this notice will receive a 50% reduction of my fees (Normally 800chf). Thus, for 400chf, I provide:
3 prenatal consultations to discuss mom’s wishes for her birth, create a birth plan, and answer questions regarding evidence based practice, what to expect, etc.

Accompaniment through all phases of labor and birth- This includes natural pain relief methods, ideal positioning to speed labor and optimize baby’s position, and consultation when you or your doctor/midwife would like to deviate from your birth plan. I will meet you at your home or your place of birth, and accompany you at all times. I help the expecting father find his role and feel competent in helping you manage your labor. I provide interpretation for parents who do not speak French.

3 postnatal consultations, where we can discuss breastfeeding, baby’s sleep habits, baby wearing (wrap style carriers, ergo baby carrier, and slings), and the concerns of fist time parents, or parents bringing a new baby home to an older sibling.

I am not a “natural birth nazi”. I will support you in whatever type of birth you wish for, though I am especially well-trained for those mothers wishing to have unmedicated births.
